I ended up missing two classes today. Not exactly sure why, but I absolutely could not get out of bed today. My best bet is that I'm still recovering from an infection, and the weather today didn't help in motivating me out of my ridiculously warm blankets.
So, to make up for skipping, I spent about 3 hours at the library, just catching up on Japanese work and looking up possible topics for my syntax final paper. I decided on researching Japanese clefting, and what makes it so interesting.
Cleft sentences:
it + conjugated form of to be + X + subordinate clause, where it is a cleft pronoun and X is usually an NP (noun phrase).
E.g. It is money that I love.
Apparently, there's some crazy phenomena with Japanese clefting that (Nom Nom) Chomsky couldn't explain with his theories, so I figured it'd make a good final paper.
